Although our open season is relatively short, the garden changes considerably during this time. Obviously, it’s hard to predict the flowering times, as this is dependent on the weather. The following outlines the season at The Hutts.
Our season begins with the early flowering Rhododendron species such as Rh. barbatum, Rh. fargesii and Rh. calophytum among others. The bold splashes of bright yellow swathes of the Skunk Cabbages (Lysichiton) add drama to the stream-sides and bog areas whilst drifts of Narcissus and Primula denticulata lead you down to a tranquil area of early-flowering Magnolias in ‘Leopard Valley’.
